2026–2027 Academic Year Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event

Students from the Department of Nursing and the Department of Surgical Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, organized a meaningful awareness event in October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event emphasized the importance of early detection of breast cancer, the potentially life-saving role of breast self-examination, and the need to raise public awareness. The event attracted considerable interest, and participants were provided with informative presentations, visual materials, and educational brochures.
The program highlighted the vital roles of nurses in the fight against breast cancer and the importance of community health education. Particular attention was drawn to the impact of early detection, regular screening, and healthy lifestyle habits on breast cancer prevention and control.
The event was held at a stand decorated with pink details in line with the “Pink October” theme, symbolizing breast cancer awareness. Pink ribbons were distributed to participants, and awareness messages were conveyed through symbolic pink-themed displays.
Faculty members of the Department of Surgical Nursing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşah Köse, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cemile Çelebi, and Lecturer Dr. Mehtap Çullu, emphasized that such awareness activities are of great importance not only for students but also for promoting health awareness throughout the community. They once again highlighted the message: “Early Detection Saves Lives.”
